Why this site exists

Buying SEO is unusually hard for a small business. The work is technical, the results take months, and the sales process rewards confidence rather than competence. Most people end up choosing between the two or three agencies that happened to email them, with no way to tell whether the prices they have been quoted are normal.

This site is an attempt to fix the first part of that problem. It gathers every SEO agency we can verify as serving Bristol, shows the same handful of facts about each one, and groups them by sector, area and service so you can start from your own situation rather than from a generic list.

It will not tell you which agency is best. Nobody can tell you that from a directory, and any site that claims to is selling something. What it can do is get you to a sensible shortlist in ten minutes instead of two weeks, and give you the questions to ask once you are there.

Who runs it

CompareSEO Bristol is run independently by a web developer based in the South West, someone who has spent a good deal of time on the other side of these conversations: building sites for small businesses and watching them try to buy search marketing. The directory is a side project rather than a company, which is why it is small, plain and quick.

We keep the operator off the page deliberately. This site publishes comparisons of local agencies, some of whom would rather it did not, and staying at arm's length keeps those conversations about the data instead of about a person. It does not change our accountability: every claim on the site is sourced, the methodology is published in full, and corrections are made on request without argument.

If something on the site is wrong, the fastest way to get it fixed is to say so. Agencies can request corrections through the for agencies page, and anyone else can reply to the quote form.

Our independence, stated plainly

We are not affiliated with any agency listed here, and a listing is not a recommendation. We did not ask agencies for permission to list them, because a directory that only includes willing participants is an advert rather than a comparison.

Featured placements are paid and always labelled. Quote introductions may be paid for by the receiving agency. Neither affects a rating, a review count, or the order of the standard list. Those are the only two ways money changes hands, and both are disclosed on the page where they apply.

What we cover

The directory currently spans 114 sectors, 16 Bristol areas and 9 services. A page is only published where enough agencies match to make a genuine comparison, so you will find gaps. That is deliberate. A page listing one agency is not a comparison, it is a billboard.
