Question led content and AI answers
Published 26 August 2026 · Updated 26 August 2026 · 5 min read
Assistants answer questions. Content organised around real questions, answered directly, is the easiest thing for them to use.
Read with AI
Question led content is not new and it has become more valuable, because retrieval systems are explicitly looking for a passage that answers a question. Getting this right is one of the cheapest improvements available to most sites.
Finding questions worth answering
- Your sales calls. Write down every question asked in the next twenty enquiries. This is the best list you will ever have.
- Your inbox. The questions people ask before booking are the ones costing you conversions.
- People also ask boxes. Free, directly from search behaviour.
- Search Console queries. Question shaped searches you already appear for. See the Search Console guide.
- Your reviews. Complaints and praise both reveal what people were uncertain about.
Writing answers that get used
Compare "SEO costs vary depending on your requirements" with "most UK small businesses pay £500 to £2,500 a month". Only one of those can be repeated. That is the whole idea, and it is why our pricing guide leads with numbers.
Where to put them
- On the page they relate to, not collected on one distant FAQ page.
- Under a heading phrased as the question itself.
- With FAQ structured data where a genuine question and answer exists. See structured data in an AI world.
- Reviewed periodically, since prices and processes go stale and a wrong answer is worse than none.
This pairs directly with how to become the source AI cites and with basic on page SEO. If you would rather somebody else did it, SEO content writing Bristol lists agencies with writers, or compare Bristol SEO agencies on rating and specialism.
Good to know
Frequently asked questions
How many FAQs should a page have?
Four to eight real ones. Twenty invented ones look like what they are, and dilute the good answers among them.
Should FAQs be in an accordion?
It is fine, provided the content is in the HTML rather than loaded on click. Content that only exists after a JavaScript interaction is retrieved less reliably.
Does FAQ markup still produce rich results?
Display of FAQ rich results has been reduced in ordinary search. The markup remains useful for machine comprehension, which is a different and now more important benefit.
Can I reuse the same questions across pages?
Avoid it. Duplicate question and answer blocks across many pages create the same self competition as any other duplicated content.
